Jen & Dan's Wedding

August 23, 2014

How do I get to the wedding?

The wedding is in 3 days!

Please keep an eye on the weather. Every day, The Weather Network switches from “it definitely won’t rain!” to “it will definitely rain!”  As the wedding will be outside, you may need a jacket (or a pook) in the evening if it’s cool.   There will be tents.

To answer the question in the title:  There will be a shuttle bus to the wedding.

The shuttle bus will leave from the Holiday Inn at 3:30pm on Saturday.  PLEASE BE ON THE BUS or you will have to find your own way to the wedding.

Shuttle service will resume around 10:30pm and will run constantly until the end of the wedding to return you to the Holiday Inn.  It will be about 30 minutes between shuttles.

If you have any questions, please post them below in the comments!

More info on Rehearsal Dinner

Hello!  3 weeks until the wedding!

I wanted to share some more info on the booze cruise rehearsal dinner boat cruise.

WHO

Everyone who is invited to the wedding.

WHAT

A 3 hour boat cruise on the Serendipity Princess.  Will include a full dinner from Cravings, along with beer, wine, and spirits.  Live music will be provided by Dirty Little Swing Thing.

WHEN

Friday, August 22nd from 6:30-9:30pm.

The boat will be ready to board at 6.  Please be on board by 6:15.  If you aren’t on board by 6:30… how fast can you swim?

WHERE

The Serendipity Princess can be found docked at the base of Bayfield Street. She’s a triple deck paddle-wheeler, so she is hard to miss.  The closest physical address for your GPS is 2 Bayfield Street.

Paid parking is available right beside the docking area. We highly recommend NOT driving unless you are lucky enough to have a designated driver. Taxi chits will be available for those who need them.

WHY

Because fun.

If you originally said no, but now think this sounds super fun, please go to the RSVP page and change your RSVP to yes.

Update!

Hello!

Most of the invitations have gone out (we’re waiting on a few stragglers to give us addresses).  If you haven’t received an invitation, let me know because Canada Post is special (some of the invitations came to the return address instead of the mailing address) and I promise we aren’t trying to offend anybody.

So far, 55 people have RSVPed.  You could be next!

There will be a “rehearsal dinner” on Friday night, which is actually more of a booze cruise and everyone is invited.  The boat leaves from Barrie around 6pm.  Exact details will follow and will be posted on this page.

Holiday Inn Discount

My lovely Aunt Judy called the Holiday Inn Barrie Hotel & Conference Center and they gave her a better deal than they gave me!  Harumph.

So, I’ve called them and they’ve given me a new rate of $129.99/night.

If you would like to book, please visit this link.  You can also call 1-705-722-0555 x 0 or visit hibarrie.ca and give the code “JGW”.

Hotel Update

Everyone has been asking how the wedding plans are going, and I’m happy to finally have a couple of updates.

Firstly, and most importantly, my Aunt Marianne wins the award for “first person to book their flight”.  Hooray!  Well done, Marianne!

Secondly, there is a new Hotels page which lists the 5 closest hotels to the wedding.  I only added hotels that were rated at least 4/5 in reviews on Expedia.  We are working on getting a special wedding rate, but so far the rates I’ve been quoted aren’t stellar.  For example, a “special rate” of $140 for the Holiday Inn Barrie Hotel & Conference Centre, which is a $30 discount from their listed rate, but only a $6 discount from Hotels.com.  In conclusion, hotels are the worst and if you’re really eager to book this far in advance, you probably won’t miss out on any significant “special wedding rate” discounts.

We will keep everyone updated on our plans.  Currently, my main goal is to try to convince Dan not to book a MuchMusic Video Dance Party.

Welcome

This is where we will post information about the wedding.  Enter your email address in the box on the left if you want to be emailed when the site is updated!
